Convergent multi-service billing and CRM for NGN and 4G services

The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Ltd (BTC) is the incumbent telecommunications operator in the Bahamas, providing fixed wire, mobile, data and broadband services across 70 islands.

Its vision is to enhance the Bahamas's competitive position in the global community by developing and maintaining the most modern, cost effective telecommunications solutions for our customers.

BTC selected Cerillion’s fully convergent CRM and billing solution to help meet the challenges of deregulation, to secure revenues from 4G and BTC’s new FTTx network, and to consolidate all fixed and mobile services on a single billing platform.

Cerillion has an excellent track record of delivering convergent billing solutions and supporting the very latest in service technology and we are confident that they will help us to achieve our strategic goals.

Executive Vice President, BTC

The Challenges

BTC decided to undertake a modernisation and rationalisation programme for its entire business support systems infrastructure with the goal to improve time to market and support a new suite of NGN and fibre services. This would involve replacing multiple legacy billing and customer management systems, including the ICMS and Sentori systems, with a single convergent CRM & Billing solution.

Key BSS requirements for BTC included:

  • Convergent billing of fixed and mobile services on a single platform
  • Single view of the customer
  • Online self-care and e-billing
  • Manage the complete customer lifecycle
  • Comprehensive work order management and appointment scheduling
  • Integrated line plant planning and management of outside plant
  • Fixed and mobile number portability

The Results

Cerillion successfully completed the migration from BTC’s legacy systems in 2 separate phases: fixed line services first, followed by the mobile subscriber base. The Cerillion solution provides BTC with a fully integrated customer and order management environment for all BTC customers. This includes an integrated network inventory solution enabling BTC customer services representatives (CSRs) to manage the complete service fulfilment lifecycle directly from the Cerillion CRM module. BTC has gone on to launch its own ‘4G’ services, which has driven phenomenal growth in smartphone sales and an 800% increase in mobile data services consumption. BTC has also subsequently introduced next generation and fibre fixed line voice, data and TV services. In addition, BTC have been able to aggressively market their online self-service capabilities under the EZPayPlus brand, enabling customers to access and pay their bills online through the Cerillion Web Self-Care module. “Cerillion’s unique bundled component product suite provides us with all the key functional components we require to support the business processes of a next generation telecoms operator, already pre-integrated from a single vendor. This represents not only gains in terms of operational efficiency, but also a faster time to implement helping us to achieve a more rapid return on investment.” said Nickola Dawkins, CIO, BTC. “Cerillion has an excellent track record of delivering convergent billing solutions and supporting the very latest in service technology and we are confident that they will help us to achieve our strategic goals.” said I Kirk Griffin, Executive Vice President, BTC.
